Chris Sutton has praised Celtic defender Alistair Johnston for his marked improvement under the guidance of manager Brendan Rodgers.
Johnston, who moved to Celtic from MLS team Montreal in January 2022, has improved his play dramatically since then. He has been very impressive in the early going this year.
Sutton discussed Celtic’s recent transfer activity with Casino Apps, highlighting Johnston’s improved performances. Using Johnston as a perfect example, he notably highlighted the effect of Rodgers’ coaching on players’ growth.
“They have signed quite a few players. Arne Engels, a 20-year-old Belgian international from Augsburg, signed for a club record £11 million. Given that he has a solid reputation going into the deal, Celtic is spending a sizable sum of money.
“I believe that Brendan excels at developing players.
“Matt O’Riley was a fantastic player when Ange Postecoglou brought him to Celtic, but it was evident from the previous season that he had advanced to a new level.
“Because Brendan reared him so well, Brighton wanted to sign him badly, and they did, for a club record sales fee of up to £30 million to Celtic.
“It’s also evident that Alistair Johnston is progressing significantly with Brendan’s guidance.”
Johnston Shows Off in the Derby Victory
A remarkable effort was given by Alistair Johnston as Celtic defeated Rangers handily in the Glasgow Derby.
The right-back had a crucial role in the game, contributing significantly to both the offensive and defensive ends while also reinforcing his defensive responsibilities.
