Brighton goalkeeper James Beadle is ecstatic after being called up to the England senior team by interim manager Lee Carsley.
The talented 20-year-old, who is presently on loan at Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship, is training with the senior group ahead of Uefa Nations League matches against the Republic of Ireland and Finland.
Beadle has represented England in the youth categories, from under-15s to under-21s. An England senior appearance in the future is potentially a possibility for the former Charlton player, who will join Brighton in 2022. He will train alongside fellow England goalkeepers Jordan Pickford of Everton, Nick Pope of Newcastle, and Dean Henderson of Crystal Palace.
The Telegraph’s Jason Burt wrote: “James Beadle is training with the England senior group today. The 20-year-old Brighton goalkeeper, now on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, aspires to play for England. “I am certain of that.”
Beadle rejoined Wednesday on loan for the season after impressing at Hillsborough previous season, keeping eight clean sheets in 19 Championship appearances. Beadle has previously had loans from Brighton to Crewe and Oxford.
His call-up emphasizes Brighton’s present goalkeeping talent. Dutch international Bart Verbruggen is the current leader, with seasoned Jason Steele providing dependable backup for Fabian Hurzeler’s team.
The Seagulls also have the great Carl Rushworth on loan at Hull City, Canadian international Tom McGill at MK Dons, and Dutch legend Kjell Scherpen at Sturm Graz.
