In order to have the best chance of making it to the Champions League knockout stage, Strachan maintains that Celtic will need to give one of the elite teams a serious run for their money.
During his tenure in the Parkhead hot seat, the former Hoops manager led Celtic twice into the round of 16 of the European Championship, where they were defeated by AC Milan and Barcelona.

They begin the season against RB Leipzig, Young Boys, Borussia Dortmund, Atalanta, Dinamo Zagreb, Club Brugge, and a Battle of Britain match versus Aston Villa at home in Slovan Bratislava.
