Kieran McKenna on OGC in Ipswich Town a pleasant, friendly game

Ipswich Town’s final preseason opponent, OGC Nice, will present questions similar to those the team will face when the Premier League season begins. The Blues will play the French team at Portman Road tomorrow afternoon (12.30pm), in their final warm-up before hosting Liverpool to begin their top-tier campaign a week later. Nice qualified for the Europa League last season after finishing fifth in Ligue 1, and they appointed Franck Haise as their new manager, replacing Francesco Farioli, who left for Ajax. Additionally, McKenna said he expects a challenging test as the team wraps up preseason prep.

“They’re a really good side, so it’s a really good fixture for us,” he declared.

“I watched a lot of them last year. Of course, they have a new manager, but they are also having success in the preseason.”

Town is returning to the Premier League for the first time in twenty-two years. They will first go to Manchester City before playing at home against Liverpool.

McKenna also asserts that his team should be better prepared for the upcoming uptick in competitiveness thanks to the game against Nice.

They’re a solid team, and they’ll bring some of the same elements that we’ll be facing in the coming weeks, he clarified.

“Therefore, it’s a fantastic opportunity to wrap up the preseason games in our home stadium, and I think we can all really look forward to the upcoming weeks.”
