Exclusive;Celtic agree decent fee as he heads for permanent exit, medical set

Bosun Lawal has made great progress at Celtic, but he won’t have a long-term impact on the starting lineup.

Last season, Lawal had an excellent loan with English League One team Fleetwood Town, where he proved to be a more effective midfield alternative than a center back.

He was evaluated by manager Brendan Rodgers during preseason games and a tour of the United States before returning to Celtic this summer.

Although there were a few unplanned incidents, the management highlighted his strength and power as important qualities.

The Republic of Ireland U21 star is now getting close to leaving Scotland, and Stoke City is the team that has the best chance of acquiring him.

Celtic might fetch Bosun Lawal for a few million dollars.

According to a report this morning by Irish Examiner journalist John Fallon, the Potters are the front-runners to recruit Lawal, and the Scottish champions might receive a respectable price for his departure.

Lawal is reportedly thinking about his future as a player and believes that a cost of between £2 million and £3 million will be sufficient to seal a trade with Celtic.

According to a different report from Football Scotland, he will have a physical this afternoon to validate the transfer.

His current objective will surely be to play senior football on a weekly basis, and if he isn’t getting it at Celtic, it’s best for everyone if he moves on.

Making a tidy profit is the next best thing, but the goal with young players is always to give a road into the senior set-up at the Bhoys.

A seven-figure sum is reasonable given that Lawal has only made one competitive replacement appearance in the hoops.
