Everton to surprise Milan in transfer battle for the striker

Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Everton may be able to sign Roma forward Tammy Abraham before AC Milan does.

As they said, “beware of surprises in the Premier League,” the publication [9 August, pg 27] hinted that Everton would attempt to overtake Milan in the hunt for Abraham and buy him right under their noses. Leicester City was also mentioned as a potential suitor.

Abraham is high on the list of exits for Roma, who plan to sell two or three players this summer to raise money for Daniele De Rossi’s team reconstruction. According to Gazzetta, the Serie A club is hoping to get £25.7 million for the striker.
Will Everton sign Tammy Abraham before AC Milan does?

This summer at Goodison Park, Sean Dyche has implemented a clear transfer philosophy. The Blues have sought players who have had unsuccessful seasons in Europe, and Abraham is the most recent addition to the group.

Due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury, the 26-year-old missed the majority of the previous season. He made eight Serie A appearances towards the end of the season, recording one goal and one assist.

He moved to Roma from Chelsea in 2021, and he was successful right away. In 53 appearances in all competitions, he scored 27 goals and provided five assists. However, the next season, he only managed nine goals and seven assists in 54 games.

With just three goals in thirty Premier League games the previous season, the Portuguese striker was a hot prospect in Italy with Udinese, and there are questions about whether he can lead the line for Everton this year.

Abraham, who is 6 feet 3 inches tall, fits Dyche’s ideal striker profile. Having demonstrated his aerial danger while playing for Chelsea, Abraham may be the player the Blues are searching for.

The move makes sense for all parties, and if Abraham can repeat his early form at Chelsea and Roma, the Blues will have a top striker on their hands. Everton had one of the best defensive records in the league last season, but struggled to score the goals to match. Abraham needs to revitalize his career and a return to England could improve his chances of selection for the national side.

In unrelated Everton news, the team announces a “landmark” partnership with an American company for commercial purposes.
