Sean Dyche makes Jesper Lindstrom decision

Sean Dyche makes Jesper Lindstrom decision for Everton v Preston

Everton’s Sean Dyche has given Jesper Lindstrom a start in their pre-season friendly against Preston at Deepdale, according to the club’s X account.

The Danish winger joined the Toffees on loan from Napoli with the option to buy on July 26 (BBC Sport) and made his debut start on Saturday (3 August).

Fellow new purchase Jake O’Brien, who signed from Lyon for £16.4 million on August 30 (BBC Sport), was designated a replacement (Liverpool Echo).

Everton fans to get first sight of Lindstrom

Lindstrom will be eager to make an impression on Merseyside after a difficult season in Serie A with Naples.

Given Dyche’s present lack of depth out wide, the 24-year-old should have plenty of opportunities to impress at Goodison Park, with only Dwight McNeil and Jack Harrison – back on loan from Leeds United for another season – standing in his way.

Everton fans will be eager to see what Lindstrom can do in what should be a difficult match, as Preston begin their Championship campaign at home against Sheffield United on Friday (9 August).

With the new Premier League season approaching, Dyche will benefit from having a solid idea of where his team stands.

Lindstrom, in particular, will be closely watched by fans to see if he can inject much-needed creativity into Everton’s front line.
