João Félix rejects Aston Villa switch, still waiting for Barcelona – report

According to Diario SPORT, João Félix has rejected a move to Aston Villa and remains determined to return to Barcelona for a second season.

The Portuguese forward has returned to Atlético Madrid for preseason training, but is no longer part of Diego Simeone’s plans. The Colchoneros were close to sealing a permanent transfer to Unai Emery’s Premier League club.

But Félix has said no and made it clear that he only wants a move to Barça. The same technique worked successfully for the 24-year-old last year when he joined the Blaugrana on loan. Atlético has no interest in another loan and wants to get rid of Félix permanently, but the player believes he can persuade his club to accept another offer from Barça towards the end of the transfer window.

Barça coach Hansi Flick supports a move for Félix, but only as a market opportunity, with sports director Deco considering Félix as a last resort if his two top targets, Nico Williams and Dani Olmo, do not sign in the coming weeks.

Benfica are apparently interested in reuniting with Félix but are unable to meet Atlético’s asking price of €60 million, thus this appears to be yet another extended soap opera in which Barça would only sign Félix if there are no other options and the player will not accept any offer other than Barcelona’s.
