Sunderland vs QPR: 5 players who could dictate the game tomorrow

On Saturday afternoon, Sunderland and QPR will square off with the goal of securing a crucial three points on Wearside.

Sunderland is in dire need of some form going into their matchup with QPR. The atmosphere at the Stadium of Light is negative as they have lost their last six Championship games.

In contrast, Middlesbrough ended QPR’s four-game winning streak last time out. They are still 20th in the Championship standings and out of the relegation zone thanks to their remarkable run of results, but they are only one point above the drop.

Currently, we’ve selected five players who could control Sunderland vs. QPR ahead of this weekend’s match.

Hans Christian Andersen

In February, Andersen, a playmaker from Denmark, signed a free transfer and became a formidable creative threat. Having contributed three assists in seven league games, he is expected to start this weekend behind the QPR striker.

Mundle Romaine

Winter-signing After scoring his first goal for Sunderland in their most recent loss to Southampton, Mundle will be looking to hold onto his spot in the starting lineup.

The former Tottenham Hotspur youngster will be keen to emerge as a goalscoring threat for his new club with main talisman Jack Clarke on the sidelines.

Jake Clarke-Salter

Steve Cook, the center-back partner, or Clarke-Salter may have been nominated for this. In order to offer QPR some chance of surviving, they have forged an important alliance at the back, and they will probably team up again when facing the Black Cats.

Despite prior injury setbacks, Clarke-Salter has maintained his fitness and cemented a starting position under Marti Cifuentes. Since December 16th, he has started every Championship match.

Leo Hjelde

There is a lack of centre backs for Sunderland. Even if Dan Ballard’s fears about a hamstring issue have subsided, Hjelde will probably play centre back because Luke O’Nien is still suspended and Jenson Seelt is out for the season.

Since his transfer, he has mostly been used at left back, but he can also play in the middle.

Armstrong Sinclair

Last but certainly not least comes the genuine handful, Irishman Armstrong. The 20-year-old mostly serves as a replacement, but his raw intensity, quickness, and physicality might pose a threat to Sunderland’s rather improvised backline.

He will be eager to increase his season total of four goals and three assists.
