‘Ridiculous’ – Keith Wyness fumes about what he’s heard on new Everton and Forest FFP hearing

Keith Wyness has been speaking about what he’s heard about Everton and Nottingham Forest’s PSR charge hearings

In the event that either Nottingham Forest or the Blues be demoted at the end of the current campaign, former Everton CEO Keith Wyness believes the Premier League will be a “laughing stock”.

Everton has already lost six points (down from ten following an appeal) for violating the Profitability and Sustainability Regulations (PSR) for the 2021–2022 season. The Blues and Nottingham Forest are now subject to a separate charge, and any penalties will also have an impact on their season-long point totals.

The decisions for Everton and Forest are expected by April 8 at the latest, but should they file an appeal, the matter may not be resolved until May 24, which is five days after the Premier League’s final games. With ten games remaining, Nuno’s team is three points behind the Hatters, while Sean Dyche’s team is four points ahead of Luton Town, who are in 18th place.

Wyness stated on the Inside Track podcast of Football Insider: “My sense is this…The hearings were, I believe, held both this week and last week. As of right present, the schedule stipulates that any appeals must be heard either during the final week of the season or maybe the week after its conclusion.

It will be absurd if that occurs. Because the decision about relegation may be made after the season, the league will be a laughingstock.

“Time is not on our side. It is entirely the Premier League’s fault. It gets even more annoying if all of these appeals are granted, as they very well might.

“There’s also the fact that new regulations are being implemented, which amply demonstrates that the existing set of regulations is inadequate.”
