‘He did an unreal job…’: KLD and Speakman urged to consider ex-Premier League boss at Sunderland

Sunderland has been instructed to name a previous Premier League manager who is ‘unreal’ and now available.

Michael Beale was fired by Sunderland last month after a miserable 12-game tenure.

Beale emerged victorious from 12 games. Nevertheless, Beale’s position became untenable due to his poor results and the gap between him and the Sunderland supporters.

This is Mike Dodds’s charge through the end of the season.

He was first offered a strong possibility of getting the summer position, which would be permanent. However, it appears that the Sunderland owners will choose a new manager in the summer following four losses during his tenure and six losses in a row.

Who has been linked with the Sunderland job so far

Since Beale left, a number of names have been associated with the Stadium of Light vacancy.

One such is the well-known Polish coach Marek Papszun, who elevated Rakow from the third division to the top division of Polish football and helped them win multiple domestic cups in addition to the Polish top flight championship.

Will Still, the manager of Reims, has also been linked. Bailey, an expert, claims that Still would be the perfect summertime managerial addition for Sunderland, having been linked following the dismissal of Tony Mowbray.

Meanwhile, it’s rumoured that Sunderland is secretly considering former manager of Nottingham Forest and Swansea City, Steve Cooper.

Kyril Louis-Dreyfus urged to appoint Paul Heckingbottom

One name that has not yet been associated with Sunderland is Paul Heckingbottom.

Despite having assisted the Blades in winning the Championship the previous season, Sheffield United fired the 46-year-old early in the season, thus he is free.

In an interview with Football League World, commentator Carlton Palmer suggested that Sunderland may benefit greatly from having the former manager of Barnsley and Leeds United.

“He did an incredible job at Sheffield United, leading them to promotion with the team he had, and they did it quickly,” according to the writer.

He seems like one of those managers I would be considering because I believe he can do a good job. He didn’t need to have a lot of resources because he worked with less, and I believe that his admirers would like him.

Kristjaan Speakman and Kyril Louis-Dreyfus must remember to make their next appointment.

Sunderland are currently experiencing a turning moment.

Owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and sporting director Kristjaan Speakman really need to nail this next appointment, assuming they make it to summer with their Championship status intact—which isn’t guaranteed just yet. After this season, there’s a new sense of uncertainty surrounding the current ownership and structure at the club due to the poor managerial handling and the seemingly poor player recruitment. However, if the club hires a new boss and then brings in some players who are perhaps more experienced and better-suited to the Championship, rather than just teenagers from Europe, then Sunderland might get back on track and the supporters might regain faith in the’model’. Heckingbottom could definitely be a steady appointment.

His resume boasts a promotion from Sheffield United, where he helped several underachievers succeed, like Oli McBurnie, as well as several younger players, such Rhys Norrington-Davies, establish themselves.

Even while he might not be the traditional manager Sunderland is currently looking for, he might be another reliable hire along the lines of Mowbray to help Sunderland get back on track and win more games.

Long-term worries, though, might arise because he hasn’t yet shown his mettle in the Premier League.
