Sunderland’s own Jeff Brown to leave Look North after 21 years
The journalist, who was born and raised in Sunderland, began working with Mike Neville on Tyne Tees’ North East Tonight before joining the main regional BBC news program in 2003.
Since then, he has assumed the role of news presenter on Look North.
He wrote on the social media site X today, saying, “News just in.I’m going on from BBC Look North after almost 21 years @BBCLN.
“I have projects in the works with the BBC and other parties, but as you can see, it’s been enjoyable and a fantastic aspect of my life. I appreciate you viewing, xx.”
Jeff started his newspaper journalism career in Birmingham after attending Redby and Monkwearmouth schools.
He made his way back to the Northeast in the 1980s, before eventually finding success on television.
In addition, Jeff has dabbled in playwriting, with his plays Cornered and The Bench finding success with readers.
Additionally, he has been a well-liked Sunderland Echo Business Excellence Awards host.
He is wed to Susan Wear, a dramatist and former head of communications for Sunderland City Council.
