Sunderland owners tipped to make huge off-field decision if they lose v QPR

If Sunderland loses to QPR this weekend, they are expected to make a potentially significant decision.

Now, Sunderland has suffered six straight losses in the Championship.

For the first time since 2006, the Black Cats suffered their sixth straight loss after falling to Southampton 4–2.

With just nine points separating them and the drop zone, Mike Dodds’ interim team is currently in 12th place in the standings. This weekend’s matchup against QPR promises to be extremely difficult.

After dropping just one of their previous five games, the R’s have managed to climb out of the bottom three. This weekend’s victory might move them up to 17th place and reduce the difference between them and the Black Cats to just five points.

Speaking on the Championship Check-In podcast ahead of this weekend, EFL pundit Sam Parkin gave his verdict on the state of affairs at Sunderland, hinting that he thinks the club’s owners could make a very bold decision regarding the management, should they lose vs QPR.

Parkin said:

He continued, saying:

“I often say that a manager gets fired after six or seven [defeats], and I know that’s not the case in this situation. However, you get the idea—it’s a little desperate.
