Football player Hwang’s sister-in-law given 3 yrs in prison over leak scandal

March 14, SEOUL (Yonhap) — Hwang Ui-jo’s sister-in-law was sentenced to three years in prison on Thursday for allegedly disclosing the football player’s personal information and using blackmail.

The lady, who claimed to be Hwang’s former girlfriend, was charged with distributing pornographic images and videos of Hwang with women on Instagram.
She said that the football star had slept with a number of women, including famous people, tricking them into thinking he was dating them before breaking their hearts.

The lady is also charged with using texts implying that “it will be fun” if the tapes are released as a form of blackmail against Hwang.

The accused had categorically refuted the allegations made against her.

right up until the trial, claiming that her phone might have been hacked, before apologizing in person to the court last month and admitting to the crime.

Police are looking into Hwang personally over claims that he recorded a sex with a woman without her permission. Prosecutors received the case from the police last month.
