Everton latest: Administration on cards at Goodison as alternative bidders emerge in £600m takeover update
According to Kieran Maguire, any rival bidders for Everton’s acquisition might permit the team to enter administration due to outstanding debts.
Maguire maintained that the club might not be worth purchasing because it has accrued about £600 million in debt, even if Farhad Moshiri leaves and wipes off his obligations.
Then it was clarified that potential owners might permit Everton to enter administration if they manage to score enough points to remain in the league despite potential point deductions.
The football financial specialist said on The Price Of Football podcast [March 14]: “We are aware of other bidders.” It’s also reasonable, in my opinion, to state that the other bidders are Americans.
It’s also reasonable to assume that the bidders will consider what they’re purchasing. Assume Farhad Moshiri leaves empty-handed. The club still owes almost £500 million in debt.
“At least £100 million more is needed to finish building Bramley-Moore Dock. The new owners will have to pay at least £600 million for that alone.
