Everton’s Jordan Pickford is the clear number one for England, but Gareth Southgate now has a decision to make, reports the Mirror.

On 13 March, the newspaper claimed on their website that the manager must make a decision on which two goalkeepers to choose with Pickford when naming his next team.

Goalkeepers Sam Johnstone and Aaron Ramsdale of Crystal Palace and Arsenal are set to preserve their positions, although England has also looked at Rangers’ Jack Butland.

Jordan Pickford is undeniably England’s number one.

Pickford has established himself as one of England’s first names on the team sheet under Gareth Southgate, while also contributing significantly to Everton’s success. It would take something exceptional to dethrone him from his secure starting spot in goal.

With Johnstone resuming his goalkeeping duties at Crystal Palace, he looks to be another potential candidate for selection, albeit Ramsdale has mostly served as a substitute for Arsenal, making a mistake against Brentford.

That has created doubts about his place in the team, especially given Butland’s success north of the border, with the Rangers player receiving high praise and suggestions for an international recall as a consequence of his performances.

The focus at Goodison Park has been on Jarrad Branthwaite’s potential international debut, although Pickford’s consistency and durability in the England team frequently go overlooked since his position is expected.
