Everton: 777 Partners ties to Russian oligarchs emerge after meeting with Premier League

As it seeks to acquire Everton, Josimar claims that 777 Partners has done business with a Russian oligarch who is alleged to have deep ties to Vladmir Putin and the Kremlin.

On March 13, the website of the investigative football journalism outlet revealed that Oleg Boyko, who was sanctioned by Ukraine, Canada, and Australia in 2022 due to his purported ties to the Kremlin, provided funding for the US investment firm’s initial venture into club ownership.

According to the report, the tycoon from Moscow gave a $10 million (£7.81 million) loan to 777, which owned Seville, in 2018, making him an indirect stakeholder.

Josimar went on to say that despite the company’s continued insistence that the Premier League will soon approve its ownership of Goodison Park, there have been “no tangible signs of progress” on the deal since its most recent meeting with the regulatory body.

It was disclosed that when 777 was contacted on the allegations in the article, it declined to comment.

Uneasy feeling around 777 takeover at Everton

There are just far too many doubts being raised about 777 as these latest accusations join a long list of reports that have surfaced over the past few months.

The claims have ranged from its credit rating being lowered to allegations that it’s missed several payments, and now there are links to a Russian oligarch.

That will undoubtedly irritate the Premier League, and considering how the government handled the UK’s oligarchs after the war in Ukraine, it’s likely something they’re also worried about.

Since the firm’s meeting with the governing body last week, not much has been spoken, but this silence is undoubtedly not encouraging for the group.

Although the Toffees supporters are eager to see Farhad Moshiri go, it seems that there are more questions than answers on whether 777 is indeed the solution to their prayers at Goodison.
