FLW’s Sunderland fan pundit has suggested the two names he’d like to see become the next permanent head coach

Following their decision to fire Michael Beale last month, Sunderland is currently looking for a new permanent manager.

Although Mike Dodds has been appointed as the team’s interim manager until the conclusion of the season, it is becoming less and less likely that he will stay in that role permanently.

Since assuming leadership of the squad in February, Dodds’ Black Cats have dropped his four games in that role.

Before Beale took over as head coach in December, Dodds had shown promise as an interim coach, winning two of his three games.

However, Will Still, Steve Cooper, and Paul Heckingbottom have all been mentioned in connection with the Stadium of Light’s permanent head coaching post.

Sunderland supporter Jack Austwicke of FLW thinks Still is the best applicant the team could possibly consider hiring.

Will Still is the only person that comes to me right away, Austwicke said to Football League World.

“Will Still is the one that everyone aspires to be, the well-known figure, the one we were associated with, and the truly aspirational one.

He expressed his desire to visit the Championship, and I don’t think there is a better club to visit than the largest team in the Championship.

“Why not and go for it? We’ll have had four months by the time we appoint him to really try and convince him about this project and they have to get this one right.”

Sunderland league position

Under Dodds’ interim leadership, the team has lagged considerably behind its competitors for a top six finish.

With nine games left, Sunderland is currently 11 points off of a play-off spot in the Championship standings.
