Sunderland’s triggering player option is quite unlikely: View.
Injury-ravaged Bradley Dack is expected to quit the Black Cats in the summer following a poor time at the Stadium of Light.
Bradley Dack, who formerly played for Blackburn Rovers, has struggled with health and game time since joining the Stadium of Light in the summer.
The 30-year-old has not played for Sunderland this year due to a hamstring injury sustained during a 1-0 win against Hull City on Boxing Day. This is the latest in a line of injuries for the player.
This season, the ex-Gillingham star has played only 12 league matches, starting only 5 of them. He has only 473 minutes of Championship action and has scored once.
With time running out on his one-year contract in the North East, the prospect of seeing him play in the Mackems’ red and white next season becomes more unlikely.
Bradley Dack’s professional history
Dack rose to notoriety in the EFL after a string of strong League One performances for Gillingham, culminating in his breakout season in 2014/15.
He had nine goals and eight assists for the Gills that year (FBRef), and the next season he improved to 24 goals in 40 league games.

The playmaker’s impressive form drew interest from higher-level EFL clubs before joining relegated Blackburn Rovers in 2017.
With such a star-studded roster for League One, Rovers blasted away much of their rivals that season, with Dack playing an important role in their promotion push, with 18 league goals and eight assists proving him to be one of the third-tier’s deadliest marksmen.
In the Championship, he scored 15 goals as Rovers acclimated to life in the second tier. However, a season-ending injury in December 2019 permanently altered his professional path.
The attacker was out for nearly a year due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury, followed by another 12-month absence in 2021.
The imaginative playmaker had hoped to revive his career at the Stadium of Light after reuniting with former Rovers manager Tony Mowbray. However, the 60-year-old was let go in December.
Bradley Dack is set to depart Sunderland this summer.
According to Transfermarkt, Dack’s contract with the North East will expire on June 30, 2024, leaving him a free agent for the summer.
The Black Cats do have a one-year contract extension option, but all indicators lead to him leaving – Mowbray is gone, Sunderland has focused on developing young players, Dack’s contributions have been lackluster, and his injury record has also been a concern.
It is unclear where Dack will head next, but Wearside may also experience a summer of upheaval.
