Rangers: Steve Clarke right to bring John Souttar in from the cold, Scotland start on the cards

The fact that Rangers will have a strong presence during the impending international break might alarm Philippe Clement.

The manager has recently had a lot of injuries to contend with at Ibrox, and those injuries have happened during a very busy time for all tournaments.

While goalkeeper Jack Butland might make the England team, John Souttar is one guy whose international manager has given the go-ahead; in his most recent Scotland squad, Steve Clarke included the center-back.

The defender makes his comeback, according to Sky Sports (12 March), having been left out of the squad selected to play Georgia and Norway in November of last year.

And with Souttar making an impression at the Ibrox, the man in the dugout should have made the right choice.

This month, will Scotland’s star player John Souttar of the Rangers play?
Souttar has three Europa League games under his belt. He has an 84% accuracy rate for passes made per game and a 96% accuracy rate for passes made in his own half [Sofascore].

The center-back also has an incredible record of 5.7 clearances and 4.3 balls retrieved per game.

Given his form and the other players that made the cut, Souttar, who completely missed out on a spot in the Scotland squad the last time out, might well get a start from Clarke later this month.

Before competing at Euro 2024 this summer, the Scots play friendlies against the Netherlands and Northern Ireland.

In central defense, Clarke has also called upon players like Liam Cooper, Grant Hanley, and Jack Hendry, among others. Souttar is undoubtedly in the running to start for the important event in Germany
