Pundit issues Danny Rohl warning as Sunderland and Watford eye new boss

As the Championship approaches the season’s home stretch, some significant decisions have been made recently.

As far as Sunderland is concerned, this season has not been boring at all. In early December, they fired Tony Mowbray, who is currently manager of Birmingham City, and parted ways with Michael Beale after just 12 games—all while still hanging on for a spot in the play-offs.

Owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus and Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman are continuing their search for Beale’s long-term successor, whilst Mike Dodds’ second spell as interim head coach this season couldn’t have gone much worse, with the Black Cats losing talisman Jack Clarke to a ligament injury, as well as being defeated in six straight matches.

Watford is one team that, when it comes to altering personnel in the dugout, is never too far from the news.

The Pozzo family has decided to make yet another change after only hiring Valerien Ismael in the summer and extending his contract in October in spite of his sluggish start. The Hornets’ meager 10 points from 12 games in 2024 have seen them drop to 14th place, just 7 points above Sheffield Wednesday in 23rd place.

Ismael was given his P45 and will be replaced by Tom Cleverley for the duration of the season after they lost four of their past five league games, the last of which came at home against Coventry City on Saturday afternoon.

Scott Parker, who previously won promotions with Fulham and AFC Bournemouth from the second division, is reportedly on their radar. However, should they consider a current Championship coach who has made rapid progress?
