Keep the Faith – and keep the League Flag flying high

We have been through so many highs and lows already, I doubt any industry would object if advocates were to call this time period “The Pendulum Season.”

Moving forward, I fully expect a “Rodgers eleven” to turn it on and put on a show for the supporters that will carry us into the closing stages of our home match against St. Johnstone on Saturday.

As teams gear up for a title run and beyond, our contingent of Scots, Irish, Japanese, and Panamanian players will be showcasing their prowess at the Asian Cup, Copa America, and, sadly, meaningless friendlies.

With just nine games remaining in an extremely difficult season, the Beaks’ strategy is incredibly careless, and neither Aaron Rodgers nor any other elite manager will be appreciative of it.

The bright side of this patchy rainbow is that Cameron Carter-Vickers, Maik Nawrocki, Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate, and Luis Palma will now have an additional two weeks to heal from their injuries and, with any luck, be healthy and prepared for the crucial final stretch.

The last stage starts with a perilous journey to the Tony Macaroni Stadium in the outback town of Livingston, which features an awful plastic carpet. Recall that they scored two of the best goals of the game, even though we had just taken four from them on Sunday!

Their surface is infamous for being “dodgy,” but our defense is as well, so a few adjustments may be necessary before their unauthorized parking lot reopens. If we defeat and outscore Livi as well as the Saints, we will literally be waiting to see how other matches turn out.

On St. Patrick’s Day, the Rangers will make every effort to capture the feelings of their selected referee up in Bonnie Dundee, where their supporters will undoubtedly join in the festivities by donning green and shamrocks.

They are not going to get a penalty kick, and when the guys in blue come calling, Dundee is not going to finish the game with fewer than eleven men on the field. No, the normal stringent enforcement of the rules of play will continue the Scottish tradition of football ethics. (Attempt a penalty, a red card, and a 4-0 victory.)

After this awakening of conscience, the Easter Road team will play another green match, this time at home against Hibernian, where they will try to upset their rival for the first time this year after giving up nine goals and scoring…none.

Nick Montgomery will be hoping for his lucky charm to fully heal given Martin Boyle’s horrendous head injury from their previous fight, even though Kevin DeBruyne’s arrival is unlikely to inspire this team to an unlikely victory in Govan.

If the predicted came to pass, Celtic would then have to make the trip to Ibrox for one of the most eagerly awaited Glasgow derbies in almost a decade.

If the Bhoys had played the same number of games, they would be two points behind. If the Giants prevail, they would have a five-point lead with six games remaining, and they would be expecting an epic celebration with not a single park bench safe.

Even the most devoted Celtic fan would have to give up the title at that point, in my opinion. But there is an angel for every devil on the shoulder, and I think we have one in the form of the fixture list. If the international split opens the door for the reintroduction of our most valuable and previously mentioned assets, it might prove to be a sign from God.

Carter-Vickers, Nawrocki/Scales, Hart, Johnston, and Taylor. McGregor, Hatate, Yang, O’Riley, Kyogo/Idah, and Maeda/Palma/Kuhn. Not in one go. Naturally, of course! You can place your trust in that squad choice, and if the Lord truly shines on our afflicted wounded, the light at the end of the tunnel might be too brilliant for Clement’s “champions-elect”!

To be honest, Celtic has also been “done” in terms of injuries this season, but if we can assemble all of our best players for the last stretch, it might end up being one of our most anticipated Flags ever.

I can see a bright spot, my friends, with a potentially pivotal “derby” to be played out in the hectic atmosphere of Celtic Park toward the conclusion.

And lastly…When the Scottish Cup is eventually hoisted on May 25, Paddy Power will undoubtedly have the tic-toc guy indicating that the brands Guinness and Jameson will have explosive rise in their profit margins. However, what hues of ribbon would be used to adorn the exquisite and historic trophy?

May 25th… Now, as you give your squad a pep talk in the changing room, you have a date to consider and look forward to. Your charges shouldn’t be anywhere near a Celtic shirt if they can’t get up and elevate their game to Everest heights when sporting the renowned Hoops.

There is a serious issue if they can’t perform like Lions leading up to this special day, which is really important to us. If Celtic defeats Miovski and company at Hampden in the Scottish Cup semi-final, we will play again in the final, probably against our biggest rivals since Heart of Midlothian is unable to score a serious goal against the Ibrox side.

On Saturday, May 25, 2024, a Scottish Cup Final between the Rangers and Celtic would take place. Tommy Gemmell and Stevie Chalmers led Celtic to a historic European Cup victory in Lisbon against Helenio Herrara’s Inter Milan exactly fifty-seven years ago.

Social media will be ablaze with videos of that incredible day, and memories of Stein, Faither, Cairney, Cesar, The Brush, Murdy, Jinky, Bertie, Wispy, and the goal scorers will flood back. After the magnificent 1988 Centenary Year celebrations, when the Bhoys famously won the Double in unexpected circumstances, history would be on our side. This is the club that was meant to be.

This club often pulls through when things look impossible, so winning the Cup Final against an Ibrox team on the anniversary of our biggest win would be really Celtic!

But first things order to take our club to the next level and win the Grand Old Championship and Ibrox, let’s embrace our followers and our favorite players. It’s not general knowledge, but as the famous 4-2 game illustrates, we often save the best for last. Keep believing and flying the League Flag with pride!
