Injured Celt handed international call up
The Celtic winger is included in Honduras’ squad for its March 23 and 27 road games against Costa Rica and El Salvador.
In recent weeks, Palma has been reduced to the Celtic bench; nevertheless, an injury kept him out of the Scottish Cup match against Livingston.
The former ARIS Salonika winger is reportedly iffy for tomorrow’s game against St Johnstone, but even if he is forced to miss it, he will not be staying at Lennoxtown for the duration of the international break.
According to The Sun, General Manager Gerardo Ramos of Honduras said:
Luis Palma has been treated for a minor injury by the national team physician and the Celtic physician. We firmly believe Luis will be able to attend this crucial game versus Costa Rica.
Palma is among the first players on the teamsheet, which makes sense, and we hope he is fully prepared for that match.
He does have a little wound, but it’s not life-threatening. In the upcoming days, he can recuperate. In order to fulfill our objective of qualifying for the Copa America, we need the best team possible.
After the international break, Sunday, March 31, is when Celtic plays their match at Livingston, giving them an extra day.
Brendan Rodgers’ international break will be more stressful than usual for him because of his journey to Ibrox one week from now. Rodgers has been fighting ailments that have limited his options since the beginning of the season.
