Philippe Clement in triple Rangers injury update as Dujon Sterling OUT of Benfica clash
Prior to tomorrow’s Europa League match at Ibrox, Clement addressed the media.
The Europa League semifinal match between Benfica and Dujon Sterling is off tomorrow.
During Sunday’s Scottish Cup quarterfinal victory at Easter Road, the versatile Rangers player walked off due to an injury. Although the winger participated in training this morning despite having a strapped leg, Ross McCausland was also taken off the field due to an injury complaint. The Northern Ireland player will have a late fitness test, but Todd Cantwell’s return to the team after a month-long layoff has given the Gers hope.
The 26-year-old midfield player will play in tomorrow night’s winner-take-all last 16 second leg match at Ibrox despite not having kicked a ball since he pulled his hamstring during the team’s victory at McDiarmid Park last month.
Todd is certainly not ready for ninety minutes, but he is ready to play for a few minutes as discussed with the medical experts, according to Clement, who was speaking at today’s news conference. I’m glad to have him back; he did well in the training.
“Dujon Sterling will not be in the squad; there is a small problem, but we won’t take a chance. We’ll check in with him before Sunday. Ross McCausland completed one training session today; we’ll see how he’s doing tomorrow.”
