Cyriel Dessers is “close” to joining Rangers, with a £4.2 million move almost finalized.
Originally seeking £7 million, Cremonese now seem to have conceded they will need to accept less.
According to an Italian rumor, Rangers is very close to paying £4.2 million to sign Cyriel Dessers.
The striker, who is currently with Cremonese, finished the previous season with six goals in Serie A but
was unable to prevent their relegation from the top division. Due to this, Dessers has expressed a desire
to quit the team after just one season. The former striker for Feyenoord may be headed to Rangers at
this time, as it was recently revealed that they were nearing a £4.2 million deal.
Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport say that Dessers is close to the move and it’s for less than the £7m that
the Italian side had originally wanted as part of their attempts to recoup the fee they paid for him last
summer. The 28-year-old only joined Cremonese last year after impressing on loan at Feyenoord,
becoming top goalscorer in the Europa Conference league.
Michael Beale is said to have been a longtime admirer of the Nigerian striker, who was born in Belgium
but plays for the national team, since Feyenoord decided not to sign him long-term and he moved on to
Italy. Now, if they can close a deal and the transfer fee is less than desired, he might be on the verge of
landing his man.
