COMFIRMED DEAL: Sunderland accepted to appoint formal Liverpool star as headcoach next summer
Sunderland urged to approach ‘impressive’ manager who’s currently fighting relegation
Sunderland have been urged to make a move on a Championship manager this summer.
Mike Dodds was appointed as Sunderland’s interim coach last month and has so far endured four
successive defeats.
The 37-year-old is expected to carry out his duties until the summer though,
with Will Still thought to be on the club’s shortlist for what looks likely to be a summer overhaul.
The Reims coach has already admitted that he would be open to joining a Championship club,
while many supporters are eager to see Still arrive on Wearside at the second time of asking.
While a long list of managers all over Europe have been linked with the hot seat at the Stadium of Light,
Spokesman has now been urged to look a little closer to home. Speaking to Football League World,\
former Sheffield Wednesday midfielder, Carlton Palmer, said: “Sunderland and Watford are currently
looking for a manager,
and I think both will stay with their caretakers until the summer,
which gives them time to cast an eye on who’s available.
“One man who’s making a lot of headlines is Sheffield Wednesday’s young manager,
Danny Rohl.“They were absolutely dead and buried,
but he’s got them within touching distance of possible survival in the Championship which includes four
wins in the last six games.
“There’ll be a lot of interest in Danny,
and the club should be worried and look to tie him down on a longer contract.
” Who is Danny Rohl? For Sunderland fans who haven’t paid much attention to Sheffield Wednesday’s
season but see them 23rd in the league table,
then it really isn’t as bad as it sounds.Danny Rohl arrived at Hillsborough having gained valuable
experience with Bayern Munich,
RB Leipzig, Southampton and the Germany national team,
whilst working with individuals such as Hansi Flick and Ralph Hassenhuttl.
