Referee and VAR for Celtic’s Weekend Clash Confirmed
This Saturday, Celtic will play their first league match in the Scottish Premiership at 3 p.m. against St Johnstone.
On their previous visit to Celtic Park earlier in the season, St Johnstone drew 0-0 with the Hoops and brought a point home with them.
Moving forward to this next weekend, Euan Anderson has been named the match official, assisted by Calum Spence and Paul McAvinue. The position of fourth official will be filled by Lloyd Wilson. Chris Graham and David McGeachie will give VAR help. (SFA)
Callum McGregor, the team’s captain, will be out until at least after the international break because of a calf/achilles issue.
Further complicating the selection possibilities is the fact that Luis Palma, the Honduran winger, is doubtful due to an injury incurred during training.
To further compound Celtic’s problems, Reo Hatate is still sidelined with a chronic injury; his expected return date is set for Livingston. The possibilities for selection are even more limited because of Hyunjun Yang’s suspension after receiving a red card against Heart of Midlothian.
The depth and versatility of Celtic are tested as they get ready for this important game. Others have a chance to step up and support the team’s aspirations for a domestic double because of the absence of important players.
