Nottingham Forest and Fulham have held ‘in-depth contacts’ to sign €20m midfielder

It’s no secret that Lewis Ferguson is a target for Fulham and Nottingham Forest, but a new report claims first efforts have been made.

The Craven Cottage and City Ground teams are referenced in an article by Calciomercato about the Scottish midfielder and his outstanding season at Bologna.

The 24-year-old is reportedly a player that Nottingham Forest and Fulham “would like to bet” on, and Ferguson claims that the Premier League “facinates” him.

Prior to a possible transfer, the two English clubs are rumoured to have established “in-depth contacts,” although they are not the only groups involved.

Juventus, AC Milan, Napoli, and Atalanta are among Ferguson’s “many admirers” in Italy. However, a lot will depend on Thiago Motta, who intends to manage the midfield player next season no matter where he plays.

He would therefore probably want to bring the player with him if he decided to go to one of the aforementioned clubs.

This serves as a warning to Nottingham Forest and Fulham, who have been informed that they will need to raise at least €20 million to persuade Bologna to sell this summer.

The recent remarks made by Ferguson’s agent, Bill McMurdo, to TV Play, stating that his client “loves the Italian culture” and is “having a great time” there, along with the belief that his client “will still be playing in Serie A in the next five years,” also provide teams in Italy an advantage.

Nottingham Forest and Fulham now have the responsibility to alter that perspective.
