News update from Hibs: Star discloses frequent conversations with Aberdeen star as Sunderland loanee receives fantastic feedback

The latest news from around Hibs as they head into a fresh battle.

Hibs continues to play significant games as the international break approaches.

Ross County will play in the Premiership next after Rangers defeated them 2-0 in the quarterfinal of the Scottish Cup, with Nick Montgomery’s team being controversially reduced to nine men. The club’s next game has the potential to put them four points ahead of Dundee, who is now in seventh place in the race for the top six.

After that it’s Livingston at home before the March break ensues. Here’s some of the latest news around Easter Road right now.

Tavares loving life

According to Jair Tavares, he has had a far better second season at Hibs than the first. He came from Benfica during the Lee Johnson era, but the Englishman cut him out of the plans until Montgomery brought him back in. However, he describes to A Bola how difficult his first campaign was before he found fresh hope under Montgomery.

He said: “I already have a lot more games in my legs, compared to last year, and I’ve also been taking advantage of the opportunities. It was a very difficult time, especially mentally. I stopped seeing happiness in everything, and the hardest part was having to go to training and smile as if everything was going wonderfully, or as if I were going to play on the weekend, even though I knew with almost 100% certainty that it wasn’t going to happen.

Thankfully, things turned around, but it was crucial to be ready for it since I never stopped working out on my own. I worked out alone, after training, and on days off. I would exercise by myself as I never lost faith in myself and because I was always aware of my abilities. However, what matters most right now is that I’m feeling that happiness and passion for the game once more.”

Along with some conversations with Celtic’s Paulo Bernardo, he also disclosed conversations with Aberdeen player and former Benfica friend Duk: “We communicate a lot, but I’m not with him all the time. Paulo less so than with Duk. I speak with Duk once a week.”
