Lagerbielke Will Review His Situation at The End of The Season
Gustaf Lagerbielke, Celtic’s £3 million summer acquisition, has publicly stated his plan to review his future with the Scottish champions because of a notable shortage of playing opportunities.
Lagerbielke, who was the defender of the year in the Swedish league while playing for IF Elfsborg, has had little playing time under Brendan Rodgers at Parkhead, starting only six times this season.
Lagerbielke discussed his ambitions and the challenges he is now experiencing at Celtic in an interview with Aftonbladet.
The defender stated that there were numerous clubs interested.
“But then there was an injury situation in the club, which meant that nothing came of it. It was cancelled because of the injury.
“Right now the focus is on training as well as possible and continuing to show that I can play. We can still win the Double as we fight with Rangers for the league title and stay in the cup as well. I want to play and will do all in my ability to help the club. At the same time, I know that I can play in the highest leagues, so it is a matter we will assess after the season.”
The writing seems to be on the wall for Lagerbielke with a summer exit looking like a formality. He’s not in Rodgers’ plans for whatever reason, that’s obvious to see with Liam Scales and Stephen Welsh both starting ahead of the Swede.
