Kristjaan Speakman can bring three Championship free agents to Sunderland in the summer.

Sunderland have a busy summer lying ahead, with a new manager and some new players needed.

Sunderland are limping over the finish line this season. The Black Cats‘ chances of making the playoffs are all but gone, and there is now a growing concern that they may get drawn into a relegation struggle.

With nine games remaining, Mike Dodds’ team is only nine points above the drop zone after six successive losses in the Championship.

Now that another management change is imminent at Sunderland, it appears that he will be replaced in the summer.

Additionally, it appears that the playing staff will be changing as a result of the team’s poor performance, which has exposed several weaknesses.

Here are three Championship free agents Sunderland could sign for nothing this summer…

The 22-year-old, who was previously called a “amazing” player by former Sunderland and Blackburn manager Tony Mowbray, has assisted two goals and scored four in the Championship this year after tallying six goals and scoring four the previous year.

He is an important member of Blackburn’s team, frequently starting on the right side or as one of the two central attacking midfielders.

Dolan might be searching for a fresh opportunity this summer since Blackburn is in disarray.

Tyrese Campbell

Stoke City v Birmingham City - Sky Bet Championship

The Stoke City man has had a misfire season in the Championship.

After scoring nine and assisting five last time round, the 24-year-old has netted just once in 16 so far this season, with injury having kept him out for large parts.

But on his day, Campbell is a ruthless finisher; he’s a driving central forward who loves to run in behind, and who is capable of scoring an array of goals too.

With Stoke potentially going down this season, Campbell could wait out his contract, and he’d certainly add some prowess and quality to a Sunderland front line which is lacking it right now.

Di’Shon Bernard
Since joining Sheffield Wednesday on a one-year contract last summer, the former Manchester United young player has shown great promise. According to Sofascore, the Jamaican international averages 2.9 clearances per game, 1.5 tackles, and 33 passes, which is second most among Wednesday’s players.

The 23-year-old Bernard has participated in 29 games in the Championship this season and was a key player in the Owls’ recent success comeback.

Given Sheffield Wednesday’s league situation, he appears to be waiting to sign a new contract, and if he becomes a free agency, he will undoubtedly have suitors.

He might be the perfect replacement for Everton’s desired Dan Ballard.
