‘Irrelevant’: Simon Jordan clashes with Jim White over where Premier League rule change leaves Everton

Simon Jordan has been vocal in his condemnation of Everton and their conduct across the last decade or so.

The Iranian millionaire, who has been publicly criticising Farhad Moshiri on a regular basis, is to blame for the Toffees’ financial predicament, from which they are unlikely to recover anytime soon.

Dooming Sean Dyche to an unattainable managerial position as well, his team’s present success in the Championship is a direct result of the 52-year-old.

However, anger has reached a breaking point as the Premier League is now attempting to change the regulations that led to the points deduction for this season. Jordan, though, supports the choice.

What Simon Jordan said about Everton

Everton FC v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League

In a live chat with a frustrated Everton supporter on talkSPORT (12/03, 11 am), the former chairman of Crystal Palace did not hold back.

Jordan was agitated by the fan’s complaints about how the media has presented the Toffees’ troubles as he attempted to make a strong point about the ridiculous behaviour of the Premier League.

Even Jim White, who first asserted that “the current rules have hit Everton hard,” got into a heated argument with him. Jordan quickly retorted, “So they should,” which prompted his co-host to say, “They’ve hit Forest hard, and they might hit Manchester City hard.” Therefore, Everton, Forest, and City are still in the dark about the rules that will soon be repealed. Is that accurate? Rules that are soon to be repealed

Jordan was then given permission to finish his outburst, saying, “Soon to be amended, and sophisticated.” The implications of £105 million were not the same when they were first announced; instead, they were different. The laws and regulations of the day are applied to you, and they change throughout time. That being said, it’s kind of moot point; additionally, remember that Everton’s offences date back three years, not just three months.

Thus, “we’re not discussing something that occurred a week ago.”

However, White would retaliate, asking why they are now altering the regulations. “Because the industry wants to grow forward and start looking at the repercussions and the issues… like VAR,” Jordan said, continuing, “because, like everything else, when you acquire more intelligence…”

It does make the Premier League look foolish

While Jordan may be furious about Everton’s actions and frantically trying to defend the Premier League’s decision to alter its regulations, few can contest the impression it gives the league.

Ultimately, their actions have merely reinforced the mounting perception that their current situation is incredibly precarious.

It is well knowledge that their severe treatment of the Toffees and subsequently Nottingham Forest was a desperate attempt to appear strong in front of an impartial regulator.

They have barely accomplished what they set out to do, though, in doing so with little success and in the face of intense criticism from Evertonians.

They are purposefully altering the principles they have adhered to for so long that they are finding it difficult to uphold their reputation once more and are essentially acknowledging that everything they have done this season has been gratuitous.

How can these rules be justified in punishing Everton if even they believe they are inadequate for purpose?
