How Sunderland U21s performed at Manchester City, and when Corry Evans and Bradley Dack may return from injury.
Bradley Dack did not play for Sunderland’s under-21s against Manchester City, despite being expected to do so.
Graeme Murty’s team drew 2-2 at the Joie Stadium, with Caden Kelly and Harrison Jones scoring for the young Black Cats following City’s opening from Mahamadou Susoho. Tai Sodje then equalised for the hosts 15 minutes later in the Premier League 2 match.
Sunderland’s interim manager, Mike Dodds, announced last week that Dack will play against City after returning to training. Due to a hamstring injury, the 30-year-old has not played for the Black Cats’ senior team since their 1-0 victory against Hull on Boxing Day.
Evans, who has been sidelined for more than a year due to an ACL injury, will also play for the under-21s before returning to the senior squad. The 33-year-old midfielder is expected to participate in Sunderland’s Premier League 2 match against Newcastle at the Academy of Light on Monday, March 18. He injured his ankle during training last week.
