Ex-Sunderland transfer target ‘expected to leave’ Premier League club this summer
Daniel Jebbison, a former target of Sunderland, is ‘likely’ to depart Sheffield United in the summer, sources say.
Prior to the Blades’ ultimate relegation back to the Championship, the 20-year-old forward made his debut during the 2020–21 season after rising through the Premier League club’s youth systems.
Jebbison scored his first goal for the club against Everton on 16 May, becoming the youngest player to score in their first start in the Premier League, then signing his first professional contract the following summer.
In the first half of the next season, Jebbison made eight appearances for Sheffield United before being
loaned to Burton Albion of League One. The England youth international was in attendance at a game at
the Stadium of Light and was on the verge of signing a contract with Sunderland, a third-tier team at the
time, before ultimately joining The Brewers.
After Sunderland defeated Wycombe Wanderers in the championship game at Wembley to secure a
return to the Championship, Jebbison scored seven goals in twenty appearances for Burton Albion in
League One. Under Alex Neil, Sunderland gained promotion through the play-offs.
