Everton & Newcastle Lose Can Uzun Race, Set to Complete €18m Move to Bundesliga Side

Eintracht Frankfurt have reportedly secured the signing of highly-rated striker Can Uzun from 1. FC Nürnberg, according to Bild.

Despite Uzun’s conversations with Frankfurt, the Shields Gazette recently revealed that Everton and Newcastle United were in the running to capture the 18-year-old.

It now seems as though they have lost the race to sign the emerging star, who is rumored to have finished his physical before making a move worth up to €18 million.

With Sasa Kalajdzic and Hugo Ekitike’s loan terms unlikely to be extended, this signing takes the place of Randal Kolo Muani, who left in the summer.

Uzun has been extremely productive this season, netting 13 goals for Nürnberg. In anticipation of Euro 2024, his performance even earned him a call-up to the Turkish national team. Though he might have played for Germany, in the end he decided to represent Turkey.

After deals for Aurèle Amenda (€9.5m from Young Boys), Krisztián Lisztes (€4.5m from Ferencváros), and Uzun’s close friend Nathaniel Brown (€3m from Nürnberg), Frankfurt has signed Uzun for the summer.

Frankfurt has made investments in their future, along with replacing important players, after a notable player exodus in the summer that included the exits of Kolo Muani, Daichi Kamada, Jesper Lindstrøm, Evan Ndicka, and Djibril Sow.

Hugo Larsson, Éric Junior Dina Ebimbe, William Pacho, Farès Chaïbi, and other young stars demonstrate their dedication to developing a solid foundation.

In addition, the team has made a name for itself as a haven for elite talent, drawing in young players and helping them grow before sending them to larger teams.
