‘Big thanks’ – Injured star sends message to medical staff after Rangers v Hibs incident
After making an awkward landing during the first half of Sunday’s Scottish Cup match, the Australian international was taken out on a stretcher (10 March). John Lundstram and Fabio Silva scored goals as the Gers defeated the opposition 2-0 at Easter Road in the quarterfinal.
“Would like to thank everyone for their supportive messages; much appreciated!” Boyle posted on March 11th on Instagram. “Many thanks to the medical personnel at Hibs & Rangers for tending to me on the field following the event. Many thanks to the team at the Royal Infirmary Hospital and the staff for their care of me upon my arrival. Now go home and recuperate with your family.
Martin Boyle now resting at home after worrying injury versus Rangers
Boyle had a hard tumble when challenging John Souttar for a high ball during the Rangers game, which regrettably resulted in his dismissal. Thankfully, though, it was only a concussion, and the Hibs star is back at home following his stay in the nation’s capital hospital. If the Easter Road favorite had remained on the field, the score may have been different, but the hosts quickly shot themselves in the foot by sending Nathan Moriah-Welsh and Jordan Obita off.
Boyle wasn’t the only victim in Edinburgh; due to injuries, Philippe Clement also lost Ross McCausland and Dujon Sterling. Before Benfica visits Ibrox on Thursday, March 14, the two teams are expected to play one other in the second leg of their Europa League round of 16 match. As of right now, both players are questionable.
