Two leading Celtic stars are now big doubts for April’s Old Firm trip to Rangers

Two key Celtic players are now major concerns for April’s Old Firm clash with Rangers.

Celtic leaders Callum McGregor and Cameron Carter-Vickers are huge injury concerns for the impending Old Firm showdown with Rangers at Ibrox.

Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers hopes both players will be eligible for action following the impending international break.

Rangers’ meeting against Celtic at Ibrox on April 7th might be decisive in the Scottish Premiership championship chase.

The absence of captain Callum McGregor and vice-captain Cameron Carter Vickers for such an important game is certainly a major setback for Celtic.

Will Celtic lose Callum McGregor to injury?

Rangers will be keeping a tight eye on the situation, with Callum McGregor out due to an Achilles injury with Cameron Carter Vickers withdrawing before of their Scottish Cup triumph against Livingston.

Rodgers commented on McGregor’s absence, saying, “It’s always difficult when your top players and captain are unavailable.” Of sure, other players will be able to step in, but the quality he brings to the game is well beyond what many of our guys are capable of. Fingers crossed that we can get to the bottom of it and he will be ready after the international break.”

When asked about Cameron Carter Vickers, the Celtic manager said: “Hopefully it’s nothing major. We only need to wait and see. If players are fit and available, we cannot prevent them from playing in international competitions. He will undoubtedly be called up for the USA. I am sure, but we will have to wait and see what the scan results show.”

Celtic fans are concerned about Brendan Rodgers’ statements following the defeat to Hearts, which might lead to a ban from the dugout for the upcoming game against Rangers.

The Rangers medical department continues to be busy.

Rangers certainly do not have their own injury issues to deal with, and Celtic fans will be skeptical of anything coming out of their camp.

While there are several web reports that Callum McGregor is gone for the season owing to an injury, Celtic sources have yet to confirm this.

Cameron Carter-Vickers, who has been frequently injured since joining Celtic, is also certainly out as a precaution at this time.
