The future of the Rangers star is still unknown as conflicting fresh contract rumors regarding the crucial player surface.

Reports suggest that negotiations between the player and the club on a new contract have stopped, leaving John Lundstram’s future at Rangers unclear for the time being.

‘The club are determined to secure Lundstram’s services for next season and beyond and an agreement is anticipated in the coming weeks,’ as The Rangers Review revealed earlier this month. Football Insider claims that is no longer the case, though. The 30-year-old midfield player, according to them, “wants to weigh his options before committing to a new contract.”

One of the most paid players at Ibrox, Lundstram, has a contract that expires in the summer and is probably going to receive multiple offers. Under Philippe Clement, he has been a consistent starter this season, making 42 games in all competitions and turning in several outstanding performances.

The sides have been having more talks in the last several weeks, with Clement, the manager of the Gers, personally pushing to move a deal closer to completion. The Belgian is reportedly keen to lock Lundstram down to a new deal because he sees him as a crucial member of his first team going forward.

After moving from Sheffield United to Rangers in 2021, Lundstram has been a key component of Clement’s tactical setup, and Kris Boyd, a former Ibrox fan favorite, has emphasized the value of keeping him on board in the long run.

In his weekend piece for the Scottish Sun, Boyd shared his concerns, saying, “Rangers next season? Well, it will be important to hang onto John Lundstram during the summer. They must figure out how to get him to sign a new deal.

He has a great rapport with (Mohamed) Diomande and has a big say in how Clement wants the team to play. Lundstram has been one of the top players, and the Belgian would want his best players around him to grow again next season.
