Stephen Welsh gets savaged by Celtic supporters following their demonstration, “Shouldn’t be allowed back.”

Celtic supporters did not hold back while criticising Stephen Welsh, the centre back, for his “awful” performance during Sunday afternoon’s 4-2 victory over Livingston.

After losing to Livingston at Tynecastle the previous week, Brendan Rodgers’ team defeated them at Celtic Park to go to the Scottish Cup semifinals.

Daizen Maeda made headlines with a hat-trick, while Kyogo Furuhashi followed late into injury time with a goal.

Since Cameron Carter-Vickers was sidelined for the cup match due to a hamstring injury, Rodgers started the game with Welsh and Liam Scales as a defensive tandem.

Following a “awful” performance, Celtics supporters want Stephen Welsh sold.

Welsh has only played for the Hoops for three complete ninety-minute games this season, and he had a difficult time making his way back into the starting lineup.

Tete Yengi, a forward for Livingston, was physically strong, which presented challenges for the youthful center-back duo all through.

Welsh’s performance did not sit well with Celtic fans on social media, with some saying he should never play for the team again.

In the Scottish Cup semi-finals, Celtic has joined Aberdeen. They will find out who their opponents are in the final four at Monday’s draw (March 11).

Next Saturday (16 March), Rodgers’ team will play their first Scottish Premiership match when they host St Johnstone.
