In a recent update, analyst Frank McAvennie stated that Rangers might recruit Hearts player Lawrence Shankland during the summer transfer window.
Rangers focusing on important offensive deals
Even though the Gers lead the Scottish Premiership heading into the last few months of the season, their attackers haven’t always been free-flowing all season.James Tavernier leads his team in scoring from right-back, with 17 goals, followed closely by Cyriel Dessers and Abdallah Sima, who each have 14 goals.
Rangers appear to be concentrating on signing some of the team’s most important offensive players in the summer, as multiple sources indicate.
Brighton is willing to let Sima go if they receive a bid between £10 and £15 million at the conclusion of the season, and it is actually thought that a permanent move is at the top of their list of priorities.A different source claims that Fabio Silva, a Portuguese player who has scored three goals in his first 12 outings at Ibrox, has the potential to make his loan move permanent.
Away from the present loanees, Shankland has been with the club for the time being despite rumors that he will join Rangers during the January transfer window. But with the 28-year-old having such a great season—scoring 20 goals in the league and topping the charts—a summertime move could happen.
Rangers “will” sign Shankland if the proper offer is made.
McAvennie stated that the Rangers “will” sign Shankland this summer if they make the proper offer, according to Football Insider:
“With all respect to Hearts, my sources have informed me that Shankland will accept an offer from Rangers. Despite his comfort at Hearts, he is a Rangers supporter.”
Shankland has to be viewed as a top target for the Rangers, depending on what they decide to do with Sima and Silva. His intelligence clearly indicates what a formidable weapon he may be for Philippe Clement. However, David Martindale, the manager of Livingston, has previously praised him, saying:
“When I compare him to Celtic striker Kyogo, he’s very different, yet he resembles former Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos a little bit. Lawrence is more complete as a player and has a superior mindset. It’s hard to choose between Lawrence and Morelos when he was at his best, but I’d have to say that eighteen goals in all competitions halfway through a season is amazing. He’s not only scoring various finishes against us, but also against everyone else.”

Shankland, who is 28 years old and seems to be at the top of his game, could join the Rangers right away and have an immediate impact. Additionally, the fact that he grew up as a fan of the Green Bay Packers should help Rangers beat Celtic to sign him.
