Everton targeting future youth at Goodison Park
James Vaughan
At Finch Farm, Vaughan’s appointment as the team’s Head of Youth Recruitment is a very exciting development.
The former striker has over 100 goals in his career and around 400 senior matches under his belt, so he is well-versed in what it takes to develop into a future star.
Before making his full senior debut at 16 years and 271 days old, he was crowned the Everton Under 16s player of the season for 2003–04 and broke Wayne Rooney’s record as the Toffees’ youngest top-flight scorer by surpassing James Milner’s record. With young players like Jarrad Branthwaite and Amadou Onana on Sean Dyche’s team right now, investing in youth can be a very beneficial strategy and even quite profitable.
With only four points separating them from Luton Town in the dropzone, the possibility of relegation at Goodison Park is quite serious, which may be the reason Everton is concentrating on locating some excellent young possibilities.Young players may be crucial to Everton’s success in rising out of the Championship if the worst happens and the Toffees are banished from the Premier League.
