Fabio Silva drops ‘100%’ hint over Rangers future after Hibernian victory.
Fabio Silva, who joined Rangers on a six-month loan from Wolves in December, has hinted at his future plans at Ibrox.
The 21-year-old scored the Gers’ second goal in a 2-0 Scottish Cup quarter-final win over Hibernian on Sunday, March 10.
Silva, who has four goals in 13 games since joining Ibrox, appears to be enjoying his time in Scotland and is open to the possibility of staying beyond the end of the season.
On Monday (March 11), he told BBC Sport: “I’m enjoying my time here. I do not have complete control over these things. It’s not entirely my decision to stay; if it was up to me, I may say yes. But I could say ‘yes,’ and then you’ll have a lot of stuff to deal with.
“Perhaps I have the least say in whether I stay here, but we have two months to enjoy football and win titles, and I believe that if we win trophies and everything goes well, Rangers and I will go to whatever length to keep me here.
“When you see me playing with a smile on my face, I believe everything is going well. I enjoy playing here, for the fans, the staff, and my teammates.”
Could Fabio Silva clinch a permanent agreement with Rangers?
Silva has had a difficult career in recent seasons, trying to find a place after Wolves purchased the attacker from Porto for a club record cost of £35.6 million in 2020.[BBC sport]
He spent the entire season on loan, starting with Anderlecht in July 2022 and scoring 11 goals in 32 appearances before moving to PSV Eindhoven, where he scored five goals in 19 games.
The kid has failed to make an impression at Molineux Stadium, falling short of the lofty expectations fans had when the club recruited him in 2020.
Silva seemed to have found his love for the game while playing under Philippe Clement at Ibrox, as evidenced by his response after scoring against Hibernian.
The player, who can play on the left flank or up front, provides Clement with much-needed offensive covering, as Abdallah Sima, Dessers, Oscar Cortes, and Todd Cantwell are all now injured.
