Leonard Floyd, a free agent edge rusher, and the San Francisco 49ers have reached an agreement, per a report by Ian Rapaport of NFL.com.
The arrangement is reportedly a $20 million, two-year contract with a potential value of $24 million. That only contains a $12 million guarantee for the contract’s first year, though. Floyd played with the Buffalo Bills during the previous season, but from 2020 to 2023, he wreaked havoc on the Los Angeles Rams defensive line.
The 31-year-old Floyd was one of the most experienced pass rushers on the market, while not being the best free-agent edge rusher accessible this offseason. He has 32 tackles, 19 quarterback hits, and a career-high 10.5 sacks in 17 games with the Bills. Floyd has at least nine sacks for the fourth straight season.
In terms of sacks and hurry %, Floyd’s 2020 season with the Rams, under Brandon Staley, was his greatest as a professional. Floyd has also shown durability; since 2018, he has missed just one game. For the next two years, the 49ers will have a dependable, productive danger in place of Nick Bosa.
The Bears selected Floyd, a Georgia native, with the ninth overall choice in the 2016 NFL Draft.
