Celtic’s reality with Kieran Tierney future once again coming into focus

Celtic’s reality with Kieran Tierney future once again coming into focus.

Because of his love for the team, fans of Celtic have embraced few players more than Kieran Tierney in recent years.

The 26-year-old made 170 appearances in all competitions while at Parkhead, tallying eight goals and 37 assists [Transfermarkt].

In addition, Tierney won five Scottish Premiership titles while at Parkhead. In 2019, he completed an eye-popping £25 million transfer to Arsenal.

Ever since his departure, there has been a persistent demand for the Scotland international to return to his childhood club. Although there was some speculation last summer, nothing materialized.

Tierney eventually found himself in Real Sociedad, where he has disclosed that his teammates at San Sebastien have traits with his former Celtic teammates.

“These boys here are like me playing for Celtic,” he said. The club is all you know and want when you’re growing up.

“It’s on a different level here; there are more like thirteen from the academy than there were when I was there in the first team, maybe four or five. They have obviously been playing together for a long time. They don’t have to deliberate over their decisions because they come naturally to them.

According to recent reports from GIVEMESPORT, Tierney may leave this summer after returning to North London. However, if the report is true, £20 million is thought to be the “starting point” for any negotiations, making a return to Celtic highly unlikely.

Mark Wilson drops quip on Kieran Tierney returning to Celtic

Though everyone would be thrilled to see Tierney return to his own country, Mark Wilson, a former Celtics player, doesn’t think that is likely to happen anytime soon.

“There will be a queue of teams for him if he’s not going to fit back in at Arsenal,” the 39-year-old said to Clyde 1 Superscoreboard.

“Tierney is obviously a Celtics supporter, and I have no doubt that he would want to return and play for the team once again, but at the height of his game, he’s making x number of pounds. It’s unmatchable, and I’m afraid that won’t be happening this summer for Celtic.

It would be challenging to convince Kieran Tierney to rejoin Celtic.

While it’s understandable that we’d all like to see Celtic reach out and sign Tierney, it’s currently believed that he makes almost £110,000 a week, which is completely unsustainable [Salary Sport].

Though it appears like the possibility of him going back to Parkhead will have to settle with being a pleasant notion for the time being, it is unclear what would need to happen for a deal to materialize.

It’s possible that someday a situation may arise that will allow for Tierney to rejoin the team, but it’s more likely to happen later in his career.
