Mike Dodds now drops early double Sunderland selection hint ahead of QPR clash

After suffering their sixth straight loss at Southampton this past weekend, Sunderland is in desperate need of a victory.

Even though they had fallen behind 0–0 in the first half, Mike Dodds’ youthful team was able to even the score in the latter half of the thrilling six-goal match. However, Joe Rothwell’s brace destroyed any chance of a point.

It appears the Black Cats will have to make do with another season in the Championship as the loss drops them to 12th place, 11 points below sixth-place Norwich City. Play-offs are now all but unachievable.

Dodds needs to figure out how to get his team back to winning ways as they get ready to visit Queens Park Rangers, who are in danger of relegation, on Saturday.

Adil Aouchiche and Nazariy Rusyn, in particular, were unlucky not to start, according to Dodds, who also hinted that they would be in the starting lineup this weekend against QPR. Dodds spoke after the loss at St Mary’s.
