Philippe Clement is trying to win the most unexpected titles, and the fallout from every Rangers victory lately has been ridiculous.
The manager of the Gers oversaw an exciting victory over Hibernian at Easter Road in a fierce match, and it seems that the Scottish Cup is no different.
Rangers were well-deserved winners, but even after they made all the important calls, Philippe Clement had to deal with criticism over the refereeing, with the Four Lads Had a Dream blog offering a theory as to why there is such a backlash.

To get them out of the way:
- It was the clearest penalty you will ever see.
- When on your last warning, don’t obstruct or elbow an opponent in the face.
- Don’t jump two-footed, at speed, at an opponent if you don’t want to be sent off.
Despite his hectic evening, Steven McLean deserves praise for the manner he handled players who were trying to get away with using a rough style that belonged in the 1980s.
Rather, he has faced criticism.
To be fair, the people who have been criticising the referee are probably the ones who believe the decisions went in Rangers’ advantage rather than anything at all.
Four Lads Had a Dream, writing on X, believes that the absurdity is motivated by fear:
When Michael Beale was in command, everything was fun and games, and we were just weak laughing stock.
“Now that we have someone and are seeing results, every time we win, it’s meltdown city.”

Stevie Clifford, the man behind the blog, makes a good point.
Although our noisy neighbours topped both rankings and still do, there was nothing about refereeing conspiracies when Celtic was eight, nine, or ten points ahead at the top of the table. If anything, the attention was on how many penalties we had or hadn’t given up.
While covering the game for BBC Sportscene, veteran Hibs player Stuart Lovell expressed no disagreement with any of McLean’s choices.
Rather than try to stir up some kind of manufactured indignation, he decided to investigate what had transpired.
The Rangers’ 55-point victory demonstrated that, and Philippe Clement has revived the team’s spirit and faith in the players.
As Clifford stated, the truth is that Celtic supporters, along with the rest of Scottish football, are blaming injuries, offering justifications, or criticising referees. They simply can’t handle us being good once more.
This simply adds to the sweetness of victory.
