Wayne Rooney shares staff reaction to points deduction

Wayne Rooney has shared how Everton staff behind the scenes reacted to the club being deducted six points for breaching PSR rules.

Despite the fact that it was determined they did not obtain any sporting advantage, the Premier League docked the Toffees ten points for violating PSR regulations; on appeal, that number was then lowered to six.

Before the game on March 9, 12:05 p.m., Rooney answered a question regarding his thoughts following his experiences at Derby while doing a live punditry appearance on TNT Sports. He said he had spoken to some Everton staff members behind the scenes to learn about their feelings.

“It’s really tough, not just for the players and fans, but also for the employees that work for the football team behind the scenes,” he remarked.

“I know a lot of Everton employees that are passionate about the team and sometimes they get depressed and irritated. They find it really challenging to comprehend.

“For the players, you will play football games in addition to going out there and working. But it’s really challenging for everyone else in the vicinity.

Everton were handed an unjust punishment

It’s difficult to understand why a sporting penalty for a regulation violation that provided no sports advantage makes sense, even when the punishment was lowered to six points on appeal.

Everton has been operated poorly financially for many years, and as a direct result, Farhad Moshiri was driven from Merseyside.

However, his and the board’s judgements, not anything that occurred on the pitch, are what led to those rule violations.

It is therefore completely absurd that the players and supporters are the ones who would lose points as a result of it, maybe endangering their employment if the team gets demoted.

The club needs to hope that this doesn’t come back to haunt them and that a swift decision regarding the new ownership can be reached so they can begin making plans for the future; if not, the uneasy sentiments will persist.
