‘That’s something’: Brendan Rodgers admits he’s ‘really excited’ with what Celtic have planned this summer

Brendan Rodgers has explained why he’s so thrilled about Celtic’s summer transfer intentions, taking a brief break from VAR.

The Celtic manager took a break from the debate surrounding VAR this week to discuss the club’s plans for the forthcoming transfer window.

“I’m really excited about next season, having now had a look at this group,” Rodgers stated to the Daily Record. Players who were sidelined for some time have caught my eye, and I want to grow this team.

On that front, a lot of work is being done. Is this an opportunity for me to sign it? Yes, in my opinion, we lost key players who changed the way the game looked (last summer).

“Those players had personalities in addition to being good football players. Losing that personality from the team is difficult.

“Despite everything that has been thrown at them this season, the boys have been fantastic. However, the key is to determine what it requires and how it may expand and thrive.

“Giving the guys here a chance was imperative as they had just finished a season in which they won a treble.” However, I also understand from my football experience, particularly at teams like Celtic, that there is a turnover every three to four years.

“You need to reenergize the team even if you’re winning. We will consider doing that in the summer.

Celtic needs to fortify this summer window.

There is no denying that Celtic has to get stronger throughout the summer. They actually had to in January in a few crucial areas, but they were unable to secure the kind of quality Brendan Rodgers is seeking.

The goalkeeping position needs to come first, of course. With Joe Hart set to retire at the end of the current campaign, Celtic will not be able to start the next one with Scott Bain and Benjamin Siegrist as their first-choice players.

All the information you require is revealed by the fact that neither of them has been utilised in any capacity during the last three seasons.

The loss of Alexandro Bernabei indicates that there is a critical need to address the left-back position as well.

Now that the Argentine has left on loan, it seems as though his Celtic career is finished, and Rodgers must be considering adding someone to push Greg Taylor rather than just fill in for him.

Rodgers must choose whether to pursue other options or to make Adam Idah’s move to Celtic a permanent one when he returns to Norwich.

It just won’t work to start the following season with just Kyogo Furuhashi and Hyeongyu Oh. as this year has demonstrated.

And we haven’t even spoken about how bad the wings are yet. Thus, there will be a lot to do this summer.

I, for one, am eager to see what the Celtic manager has in store if Rodgers is thrilled right now.
