Rangers: Sir Kenny Dalglish shares ‘amazing’ Ibrox treble verdict with Philippe Clement.
Rangers, managed by Philippe Clement, have the quality in their team to win a “impressive” domestic triple this season, according to Kenny Dalglish.
The Light Blues have already won the Viaplay Cup this season under the Belgian’s direction, and they are now leading the Scottish Premiership table, two points ahead of second-placed Celtic after 29 games.
Clement’s team can reach the Scottish Cup semi-finals with a win over Hibernian on Sunday (10 March). While a treble will remain extremely tough, Dalglish thinks it is far from “impossible”.
In an article for The Sunday Post (10 March, back page of pull-out), the author stated that Rangers’ 2-2 draw with Benfica was an impressive European result. It puts them in a good position to finish the job at Ibrox on Thursday evening and advance to the tournament’s quarterfinals.
“It will not be simple because, despite a difficult spell, the Portuguese remain a highly talented team. However, Philippe Clement’s team is resilient, and he is getting players to produce at a level they were not at before to his arrival.
“If Rangers win this evening – and I wouldn’t take it for granted against a resurgent Hibs team – there will be plenty of discussion about a triple. Rangers are the only team capable of making a clean sweep of domestic titles.
“They will find it difficult, but it is not impossible. At the moment, no Rangers player is talking about a treble, which is understandable. But they have the talent in the team to perform really well between now and the conclusion of the season.”
Will Philippe Clement beat Celtic to the championship and triple this season?
The turnaround at Ibrox under Clement’s management has been nothing short of spectacular, with the Belgian transforming the Gers from a team that appeared adrift under Michael Beale to serious championship contenders.
Rangers currently lead the Scottish Premiership. While there is still plenty of football to be played between now and the conclusion of the season, they are in a strong position to defeat the Hoops.
If Clement’s team defeats Hibs at Easter Road on Sunday, they will be just two games away from winning their second trophy under the Belgian. Dalglish acknowledges that it will not be simple, but it is feasible.
Hopefully, Rangers will continue to amaze in all competitions and achieve the impossible with a historic season. Clement has expressed a desire to excel in the Europa League this season, while prioritizing domestic success.
