Since moving to Ibrox in January, Mohamed Diomande, a midfielder for Rangers, has stunned Sir Kenny Dalglish with his “impressive displays.”
After first joining Philippe Clement’s team on loan from Nordsjaelland, the Ivorian midfielder has made a name for himself in Glasgow, scoring twice in his first six Premiership games and providing an assist against Benfica.
In addition to players like John Lundstram and Dujon Sterling, Dalglish has acknowledged that Diomande has captured his attention. Rangers plan to make the 22-year-old’s stay permanent in the summer.
“I really like the look of Mohamed Diomande,” he wrote in a pull-out back page article published in The Sunday Post on March 10. He’s gotten used to the park quickly and has put on some amazing performances.
Alongside him, Ridvan Yilmaz, Dujon Sterling, and John Lundstram have also drawn attention. Naturally, Hibs will be planning to stop the Gers today and also have an impact in the last third of the field. It’s a great match, and I have a sneaking suspicion the Gers could win.
During the summer transfer window, will Rangers permanently sign Mohamed Diomande?
Supporters and analysts questioned if Rangers’ midfield was capable of closing the gap on Celtic and winning the Premiership this season prior to the January transfer window.
Fans were occasionally on the edge of their seats due to the underwhelming performances and injuries sustained by players like Ryan Jack and Nicolas Raskin, but Diomande’s arrival and outstanding start in Light Blue have completely changed everything.
The Ivorian winger will be a great asset to Clement because of his exceptional passing range and drive. He can do it all with the ball and out of possession. He will bear a big share of the blame if the Gers take home more hardware this season.
Keeping the 22-year-old at Ibrox for an extended period of time will be Rangers’ only challenge. It’s currently difficult to dispute Clement’s previous statement that he anticipates Diomande to leave for a sizable sum in the future.
